About Us

Blue Ridge Fire Resources was founded in 2024 by Gary Hall-Matson. He is currently the owner and operator of the company. He has an extensive background in wildland fire suppression and prevention and prescribed fire and wildlife management for the last 10 years. He attended courses in forestry at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. He has worked for the Virginia Department of Forestry as a Forestry Technician overseeing wildland fire response in the local area, assisting landowners with firewise programs and their forest management needs. He has worked with local, non-profit, and federal agencies in addition to several private land management companies conducting prescribed burns and suppressing wildland fires. He is a member of the Amherst Fire Department and has been a captain for 4 years.

We have several other part-time team members who have a wide range of experience in national incident command, fire and EMS, prescribed burns, forestry management, fire prevention, and more.
